Airlines, according to their transport contract, are obliged to transport the luggage without charging anything up to a certain weight. Likewise, they are obliged to compensate the passenger in case of loss or delay of luggage; but, how can you claim for lost luggage from Air Europa?

Airlines have to cover lost or delayed luggage in accordance with the details of the Air Navigation Law and Royal Decree 37/2001. If you want to claim for lost luggage from Air Europa either for an international or domestic trip, the 2004 Montreal Convention applies.

This agreement establishes the responsibilities of airlines in case of loss, delay or damage to luggage with compensation of up to 1,500 euros.

Domestic trips

For domestic travel, claims for lost luggage must be made in writing to the Air Europa company within 10 days of the date on which the luggage should have been delivered.

International travel

In the case of international travel, if your luggage is damaged, you must file a claim at the time you notice the damage. The maximum date for this is 7 days from the date of delivery of the damaged luggage.

Also, if you experience a delay with your luggage, you must file a claim within 21 days from the date the luggage reaches the owner.

Finally, to claim lost luggage from Air Europa, it is advisable to do so as soon as possible, or immediately after 21 days have elapsed since the incident, or after confirmation of the loss by the company.
