Winter Sports

In January and February, doing sport in the mountains is one of the best options to spend holidays. One of these is definitely skiing. But what if our sporting holiday was compromised?

All winter sports can be considered risky because snow, ice and altitude could increase the chances of injury.

During winter sports activities, you carry or hire your equipment: you could suffer an accidental loss, theft or damage to your ski equipment.

In the case you don’t use your skip pack very frequently, you can encounter injury or illness.

Another potential scenario could be going to the piste and finding it closed: this means going to an alternative site if snow conditions allow it.

It could sound catastrophic, but an avalanche can occur and it means changing your own routes and potentially having extra accommodation and travel expenses costs.

A winter sports policy allows you to enjoy skiing activities, knowing you are insured for that.

Fit 2 Trip assists you in any of these scenarios:

  • accidental loss, theft of or damage to your ski equipment, snowboards (including bindings), ski boots, snowboard boots and ski poles.
  • ski equipment hire or ski pack ski lift pass, ski school fees and hired ski equipment, all pre-paid.
  • for piste closure, if you have to pay extra costs for transport organised by tour operator to a different piste.
  • In case of avalanche, you are insured

A skiing activities policy typically covers:

  • Glacier Skiing - Snowblading Ice Skating
  • Snowboarding (on piste, or off piste with a guide)
  • Monoskiing Snowshoeing
  • Ski touring
  • Tobogganing
  • Snowmobiling/Skidoo Skiing (on piste, or off piste with a guide)

Please note that a piste is a recognised and marked ski run within the resort boundaries.

So, if you are on holiday practising skiing, be safe with Fit 2 Trip: we offer a winter sports travel insurance upgrade that should be added to your the main policy.

When purchasing a policy, you choose the level of coverage: basic, standard or premium, depending on your needs and you can choose between a single trip and annual multi-trips.
