Best places for winter sports in Europe

During winter season, one of the most fun getaways is to places with snow to practice winter sports. You can do it with your family, friends, with your partner and even alone, but always make sure you are protected with travel insurance that covers the activities you plan to do because some of them are considered extreme sports.

At Fit 2 Trip we share our favorite destinations to practice winter sports:

Courchevel (France): Is the biggest connected ski area in the world and it is noted for its great lift system which is practically queue free, even during the busiest times.

Alpbach or Saalbach (Austria): Alpbach has won awards for being one of the most beautiful villas in Austria and is perfect for people who are learning to ski. Saalbach has one of the largest choice of villas and has a charming center with cafes, bars and stores. It is a perfect place for families as well as people who are intermediate and or adventurous level skiers.

Zermatt (Switzerland): The grace of the town and the Matterhorn skyline will make you smile. You will find many restaurants, shops, bars and winter activities for young and older people.

Madonna di Campiglio (Italy): during Christmas, the town gets transformed into a ‘Winter Wonderland’, full of lights, festivities and other winter fun. This place is perfect for families with kids and you will be able to ski together.

Trysil (Norway): Very popular winter destination for families where you can find a good ski school and it was one of the first in Europe to obtain the Sustainable Tourism certification.

If you are planning a winter sports trip, we recommend you purchasing a travel insurance whose policy covers winter sports. Fit 2 Trip offers winter sports coverage that includes own winter equipment insurance, track closure, avalanche and others. Insurance is available for ‘single travel medical insurance’ and ‘multi-risk insurance’. Always make sure you read the policy and remember that if you have annual multi-annual insurance you should check if includes winter sports, or otherwise we recommend you to expand the coverage.
