Your travel insurance starts to protect you from the time you purchase the policy. If you have purchased a policy that includes cancellation cover, you are protected for cancellation losses from the date of purchase, to the date of departure. Your travel insurance protection ends, when you return home from your trip or your insurance expires, whichever is sooner.
