The end of the state of alarm in Spain is announced

After a year of intermittent emergency conditions, accompanied by movement restrictions to deal with the expansion of the COVID-19 coronavirus, we Spaniards wonder when the state of alarm in Spain will end.

Prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, states "We want the 9th of May to be the end of the state of alarm."
What does that mean for travelers? It would mean free movement of citizens between communities and the curfew that disturbs us so much would also be eliminated. However, it all depends on the commitment and speed of the vaccination process.

Pablo Sánchez confirms that if the Ministry of Health's vaccination objectives are met, the state of alarm will end on May 9 after seven months of restrictions. This would mean that Spaniards could start again traveling this summer.

What are the vaccination goals for the next few months?

The main objective is to reach 70% of the vaccinated population by August, with 33 million people vaccinated. To reach the target by August means it would be necessary to have vaccinated 5 million by the beginning of May.
It could be possible, in fact, by 6th April there were 2.8 million fully immunized people in Spain. Taking into account the distribution of vaccination doses of the European Union (300,000 doses of Janssen and at least 1.2 million doses of Pfizer per week). This will mean that on Monday, May 3, almost 5 million doses will have been received. This is in addition to the  3.6 million citizens who have had the first dose of Pfizer.

After a Holy Week without processions, or the famous “Feria de Abril” in Seville, We can be optimistic about our summer vacation plans. Let's all stay tuned for the news this April, to plan our summer trips.

The main question that we are getting is: How do we plan our Post-COVID trips?

First of all, if you are going to travel, do not forget to carry travel insurance that offers coverage for situations derived from COVID-19, such as Fit 2 Trip travel insurance.
This coverage will allow you to claim cancellation if you, a family member or travel companion test positive for COVID-19 and are unable to travel; we also offer medical coverage if you become infected with COVID-19 during your trip or if you have another illness as a result of Covid-19. Additionally, we offer coverage for travel extension expenses due to Covid-19 quarantine or absence of transport due to confinement of the local destination.
