How to prepare a trip post-COVID-19

Hopeful news for tourism is beginning to arrive, with flights  timidly taking off again for international destinations and borders that may be considering opening soon. Meanwhile, we continue counting the de-escalation phases.


Throughout time, man has always had a vital need to move, to leave his land of origin to discover new places. We are curious and that is not going to change. Traveling is necessary in our lives. However, it is important to note that many countries will continue to have some form of COVID-19 policies that you must adhere to.

Whether it is having to self-isolate, get tested for the virus, or maintaining social distancing, here are some useful tips on how to organize travel in a post-COVID world.

Get tested
Before you head out the door, you must review if you feel any symptoms associated with COVID-19. In case you aren’t feeling yourself, it’s vitally important to book an appointment with your doctor. The last thing you want is to put other passengers’ health at risk. So, make sure you get tested with PCR before embarking on your travels

Research your destination
Whether you are traveling to another state or having an overseas adventure, you must research your destination’s regulations and rules regarding the coronavirus. Your arrival airport may have special requirements, such as showing evidence that you have a negative PCR COVID-19 test.

In some destinations, you may also need to self-isolate in a hotel once you arrive at your destination, or maybe the country borders are not open. Take care! If you don’t research, half of your trip away could be spent in quarantine. So, make sure you check whether there are any restrictions first.

Purchase travel insurance
While restrictions are beginning to ease regarding where you can travel to in the world, there is always the risk of new rules coming in that may cancel your flights at the last time. Whether you are going away, it is important that you purchase travel insurance which will add an extra layer of protection to your trip if it has to be cancelled due to Covid-19 circumstances.

Why is it more necessary than ever to contract travel insurance with Covid-19 coverage in 2021? It allows you to book your trips in advance. cancel your trip if they get sick from Covid-19 before the trip or if the destination is subject to travel restrictions. Get covered for medical emergencies, quarantine (before and after), repatriation and extension costs for the trip due to quarantine or lack of transportation.

Maintain social distancing
The coronavirus can spread when in close proximity to others, so keeping your distance and adhering to  government and airport’s rules will minimize the risk of you contracting the virus and falling ill.

Wear your mask & wash your hands
When in a busy area like an airport departure lounge, onboard, or at your destination terminal, you should wear your face mask. Face coverings will protect you and other passengers from getting and spreading the coronavirus. Even if you aren’t showing symptoms of the virus, make sure that you get into the habit of wearing your mask.

Whether you are at the airport, on the plane, or in another country, you must wash your hands often with soap and water. If you are unable to get near to a sink, make sure you bring hand sanitizer that you can use throughout your travels. Keeping your hands clean is one of the most critical steps you can take to avoid falling ill and passing germs on to others.
